Curriculum vitae of Jakob Nielsen

1890:
Jakob Nielsen is born at Mjels, Als, Northern Germany (now Denmark).
1908-13:
Nielsen is student in mathematics at the University of Kiel. He is inspired by Max Dehn.
1913:
He submits his doctoral dissertation in Kiel.
1914-15:
Nielsen is soldier on the German side at the Western front in World War I.
1915-18:
He is military adviser for the Turks at the strait of Bosporus.
1919:
Nielsen studies in Göttingen under Erich Hecke.
1920:
Docent in Hamburg.
1920-21:
Professor at the Technical University of Breslau, Germany.
1921-25:
Lektor in mathematics at the Royal Veterinary and Agricultural University in Copenhagen.
1925-51:
Professor in rational mechanics at the Polytechnic, Copenhagen.
1951-56:
Professor in mathematics at the University of Copenhagen.
1946-58:
Nielsen is involved in the establishment of UNESCO and 1952-58 in UNESCO's executive committee.
1959 August 3:
Nielsen dies.

Elected to the Royal Danish Academy of Sciences and Letters in 1926, the Norwegian Academy in Oslo in 1936, the Finnish Academy 1950 and the Norwegian Academy in Trondheim 1953.
